Chronology of events from the establishment of a joint-stock company to the present
Date Corporate event
June 1981 Studio Ray is established in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, with a paid-in capital of 1 million yen to carry out a laser display business.
August 1990 MC Visions Co., Ltd. is established under a joint venture with Mitsubishi Corporation to carry out a video image business.
October 1991 The trade name is changed to Ray Corporation, and the company makes a full-scale entry into the digital video sector.
October 1992 The Keihinjima business office is established in Ota-ku, Tokyo, and visual equipment rental operations are launched (presently the Heiwajima business office).
March 1993 The head office is relocated to Minato-ku, Tokyo.
February 1996 Craft K.K. is established to carry out a digital business (presently Digital Site Corporation CM).
March 1998 Digital Site Corporation (presently a consolidated subsidiary) is established after a merger with Sumitomo Corporation and Sumisho Electronics Co., Ltd. to carry out a computer graphics business.
March 1998 The Gotanda business office is established in Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo, to carry out the business of putting contents into DVDs.
March 2000 Digital Site Corporation is turned into a 100% subsidiary following a simplified stock exchange. Plays Unit is launched, and a full-scale entry is made into the planning and production sector.
May 2000 Shares of WE'S BRAIN (presently a consolidated subsidiary), a planning and production company, are purchased to make it a subsidiary.
October 2001 Shares are registered on the Japan Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotations (JASDAQ) to become an OTC company.
March 2002 Presentation support business begins under the Prent brand.
June 2003 Part of the operations of Plays Unit is transferred to WE'S BRAIN.
October 2003 A mobile service business is launched, using the Sokucha brand.
September 2004 Equipment sales business is transferred to Digital Site Corporation, and the System Business Department is launched. The planning/production business, visual production business and visual editing business are spun off into separate business entities, and Plays Corporation, Prent Corporation and McRAY Corporation
are launched.
November 2004 To expand the studio business, Video Editing Studio No. 3 is established in Tennozu.
